Pointed-Pen Calligraphy Workshop with Queeny Lu | Beginner-Level
Time & Location
About the Workshop
Class Level: Absolute Beginner
Age Requirements: 12 and older
Average Class Size: 4-12
Teacher: Queeny Lu (Traveling Calligrapher)
This intro workshop explores the art of Pointed-Pen Calligraphy. Pointed-pen calligraphy derives from letter-forms and structures of formal scripts i.e. Copperplate consisting of thin strokes, thick strokes, and ovals. All supplies will be provided (and for you to keep), we will work largely on the foundations of calligraphy which consists of holding the pen, drills, angles, and basic strokes. We will then go over the lowercase alphabet and an introduction to the uppercase alphabet.
By the end of the course, you'll have developed a foundation you'll need to continue with pointed-pen calligraphy after the course.
- 3 hours of hands-on instruction
- Intro calligraphy starter kit (pen holder, dinky dip, nib, ink, and a calligraphy guide with graph paper practice sheets)
- Light snacks and refreshments
