WORKSHOP INCLUDES:

- 3.5 hours of hands-on instruction (It seems long, but you'll leave thinking you needed more time!)

- Intro calligraphy starter kit for you to take home (pen holder, dinky dip, nib, ink, and a calligraphy guide with graph paper practice sheets. 

This intro workshop explores the art of Pointed-Pen Modern Calligraphy. Modern Calligraphy derives from letter-forms and structures of formal scripts i.e. Copperplate consisting of thin strokes, thick strokes, and ovals. All supplies will be provided (and for you to keep), we will work largely on the foundations of calligraphy which consists of holding the pen, drills, angles and basic strokes. We will then go over the lowercase alphabet, how to connect letters, and practice writing words. 

By the end of the course, you'll have learned a new fun skill and you'll have developed a foundation you'll need to continue with pointed-pen calligraphy at home.

PARKING:

On weekends and holidays, there is no time limit for street parking on U Street or any lettered streets (ie. A-Z Streets). There are time restrictions on weekends on streets that are numbered (ie.16th st, etc). We recommend checking the signs around you to ensure you are not in violation, especially for our classes that are more than two hours. Please note that The Creative Space is not liable for any damages to your vehicle or parking violations.
